3. Service-Specific Terms and Conditions
The following terms apply to specific seasonal and specialty services offered by Green Horizons. These terms supplement the general service agreement and any individual service estimates.
3a. Fertilization Programs
Program with weed and crabgrass control — up to 6 applications.
- Multiple applications will be applied throughout the season utilizing high quality products
- Program includes a crabgrass pre-emergent along with liquid weed control for broadleaf weeds
- Fertilizer is premium slow release granular, and 1 application will include an organic based product
3b. Spring Cleanup
Approximately April 1 – June 15, as weather permits.
- Service includes raking of turf areas with metal tines attached to mowers, cleaning leaves out of landscaped areas with backpack blowers, and removal of leaves and clippings from property
- Extra work, such as cutting back perennials, cleaning pine needles, or cleaning out woody areas, is available upon request
- Price is subject to change if property was not cleaned by Green Horizons the prior fall OR additional work is requested. You would then be billed at a rate of $75 per hour per person
- There will be an additional hauling/disposal fee added to all spring/fall cleanup orders
3c. Spring Sprinkler Start-up and Fall Sprinkler Blow Out
- In the spring, your trained technician will turn on your system, test the sprinklers in all zones, and program your watering schedule
- In the fall, our technician will thoroughly blow out your system to protect it from the winter freeze
- For larger systems there may be an extra charge
- When we receive your sign-up, the office will contact you for scheduling — early ordering helps facilitate scheduling
3d. Fall Cleanup
- Price includes 2 visits (unless otherwise noted) to ensure thorough cleanup
- The first visit is approximately between Oct 15 – Nov 7 and the second visit is usually two or three weeks later
- Service includes removal of leaves from garden beds and turf areas
- Extra work, such as cutting back perennials, cleaning pine needles, or cleaning out woody areas, is available upon request at $75 per hour per person
- Exclusion: Fall cleanup does NOT include wooded areas
- Partial visit billing: If due to weather conditions or late signup we are unable to return for the second visit, you will be billed either half the full price or $75 per hour per person for the first visit, whichever is greater
- There will be an additional hauling/disposal fee added to all spring/fall cleanup orders
3e. Gutter Cleaning
- Service includes removal of all debris from gutters, testing all downspouts, and cleanup
- Teams will use blowers to clean gutters
- Two-visit option available: first visit is usually performed in October and the second 2–4 weeks later
- For homes with gutter guards, gutters will be cleaned without removal of guards
3f. Dethatch & Haul
- Service provides a heavy-duty dethatch of lawn with power rake machine and removal of thatch debris
- An excessive thatch layer inhibits the effectiveness of watering and fertilization and promotes lawn disease
- Recommended on lawns with a thatch layer over 1 inch and to prep lawns prior to seeding
3g. Aeration
- Mechanical process that removes plugs of soil from lawn; plugs are left on turf and will gradually break down returning to organically enrich the soil
- Aeration promotes root growth, reduces compacting of soil, and enhances the effects of fertilization and seeding
3h. Marking Sprinkler Systems and Invisible Fencing
For services such as aeration and dethatching, it is essential that sprinklers and invisible fencing are marked prior to service. If not notified of the systems, Green Horizons is not liable for damage to unmarked sprinkler heads or buried underground irrigation systems and/or invisible fencing cables, wires, etc.
3i. Lawn Mowing
- Service includes weekly mowing, weed whipping, and blowing hard surfaces clean of grass clippings
- The base price is set according to a weekly mowing schedule on a specific day (Mon–Fri) when Green Horizons is in your neighborhood
- We may arrive a day or two later than normal during a rainy week or after a holiday
- Additional charges: The base mowing price will increase if you request bagging of lawn clippings or mowing of extra-long grass or newly installed sod
- Skipping mowing: During the mowing season (May – mid-October), if you want to skip mowing due to dryness or slow-growing turf, contact Green Horizons at least 1 business day before your scheduled mow and we will skip your lawn that week
3j. Snow Plowing
- Snow plowing is triggered at 1 inch of snowfall
- Service is completed within 8 hours for accumulations of 3 inches or less; larger storms may take longer
- Snow plowing does not include sidewalks or garage aprons
- Plow-out service (clearing after city plows): minimum $35 per visit, billed separately
- Seasonal flat rate: If cancelled early, a minimum of 12 visits may be charged
- Per-time billing: 12 visits are billed after the first push (or when the order is placed) and are non-refundable; visits beyond 12 are billed at the per-time rate

- Collections: Accounts over 90 days in arrears may be turned over to a licensed collection agency
- Service Suspension: We reserve the right to suspend services for accounts with overdue balances
- Collection Costs: You agree to pay all costs of collection, including reasonable attorney's fees, if your account is referred to collections
Fuel Surcharge
Green Horizons reserves the right to add a fuel surcharge to services in the event of average Twin Cities/West Hartford gas prices exceeding $3.50 per gallon. This fuel surcharge will remain independent from our base rates and will be shown as a separate entry on your invoice.
7. Scheduling and Cancellation
Service Scheduling
We will make reasonable efforts to schedule services at your convenience. For recurring services (such as weekly mowing), specific service days may vary within a service window based on weather, equipment availability, and route efficiency.

Locked Gates or Inaccessible Areas
If we cannot access your property due to locked gates, blocked driveways, or other obstacles, we may charge a trip fee and reschedule the service.
